Help needed : failure loading openGL support
Hi !
I have WinXP SP3 on my dell xps desktop.
Video card is Nvidia GeForce 7900 GS with latest drivers installed
(OpenGL is supported and I also downloaded and run applications recommended to test GL like SpaceInviders and they run OK.)
OpenGL version I have is 2.1
When I tried (multiple times) to install Zinc it prompts during testing Zinc compatibility
"Failure loading openGL support"
I reinstalled Nvidia drivers - same results.
When I try to run Zinc it usually fails on "ZV Gui plugin having trouble loading". S
Any advices ?

Hi q345,
It looks like it's having trouble loading the DLL that's needed to display our user interface. (The graphics card and driver should be fine - that error message means it can't load our plugin that displays our user interface, so it's not even getting to the point where it would use OpenGL acceleration.)
If you start Zinc, then in the address bar enter "about:plugins" and press enter, you'll see a list of plugins installed (such as Flash, Adobe, Quicktime, etc). In this list, do you see "ZV GUI Plugin for Mozilla" anywhere?
That will help us narrow it down (it either can't find the plugin, or, it finds the plugin but can't load it for some reason, knowing which is helpful).
Hi Jeff !
When I start zinc as stand alone (my original installation) it shows the address bar for a second, then whole screen becomes black with "Troubles loading plugin..." in the center. Then I need to use task manager to kill Zinc process.
After reading your note, I also installed Zinc plug-in for Firefox ( I have Firefox 3.5.3). Installation was OK
(different from Zinc stand-alone installation, where it cried about plugin on installation stage)
about:plugins shows that zv gui is installed and enabled (see line below)
"application/x-zvgui-plugin npzvgui bic Yes"
When I clicked on Zinc plug-in icon in firefox immediately after installing and restarting firefox, it brought me to zinc home page, but it didn't respond to any click. The seconf time I tried the firefox window turned black, then for a couple of seconds appeared something like "Render downloading ..." and then again "Trouble downloading GUI ...." exactly like in stand-alone Zinc. The tab header says "potential installation conflict".
Any ideas ?
